Healthier Maple Walnut Donuts | Vegan

I always thought that making my own donuts would be a pain in the booty, but these are super easy to make! I'm overly excited to share these yummy treats with you! They are nice and dense, yet moist. Although I topped them with a maple glaze and walnuts, you can enjoy them plain or totally switch up the toppings! The best part is that they are actually pretty nutrient dense, making them almost totally guilt free! Perfect to munch on, on a chilly fall morning with coffee, or a healthier dessert option after din din!



What You Need for the Donuts- (Makes about 12 donuts)
✿ 2 cups whole wheat flour
✿ 2 tbs ground flax seed
✿ 1 tbs baking soda
✿ 1/2 cup brown sugar
✿ 2 tbs baking powder
✿ 1 tsp maple extract (vanilla will do as well)
✿ 1 tsp cinnamon
✿ 1/2 tsp nutmeg
✿ 1/2 tsp salt
✿ 1/2 cup apple sauce (I used unsweetened)
✿ coconut oil cooking spray (any oil will do)

For the Glaze-
✿ 1/2 cup powdered sugar
✿ 2 tbs maple syrup
✿ 2 tbs unsweetened almond milk (use 1 tbs if you prefer a thicker glaze)
✿ ~ 1/2 cup chopped walnuts



How to-
✿ mix together the ingredients for the donuts in a large mixing bowl
✿ grease your donut pan with coconut oil spray or oil of your choice
✿ pour in your mixture about 3/4 full in each donut hole
✿ bake donuts at 355 for 15-20 minutes
✿ let the donuts cool and remove from pan

✿ mix together the ingredients for your glaze
✿ gently dip the top of your donuts into the glaze
✿ sprinkle the glazed donuts with your chopped walnuts
